Our Mission and How We Achieve It!

Have good Family Oriented Fun while teaching history of the 1880’s Old West. We teach History, Gun Safety Education, God And Country.

The Osage Valley Vigilantes are an  all-volunteer Old West Gunfighter Group that believe we can teach the general   public as well as ourselves History and Gun Safety Education and at the same time have Fun by performing family oriented skits.

The Osage Valley Vigilantes, are a Cass  County based Old West reenactment group with almost 30 men, women and children,  are the 2000 Champions of Old West Living History Foundation Old West Reenactment Competition.

The Vigilantes have performed their Gun Safety Education Program, sponsored by Missouri Valley Arms Collectors Association, for thousands of children from Missouri and Kansas during the past two years.   The Vigilantes  have found that our Gun Safety Education skit both entertains and educates. Watching the audiences faces while we perform the Gun Safety Education skit is most rewarding.  We observe both adults and children alike as they see first hand the potential destruction our firearms can and do create.  At the end of our demonstration we  stop and deputize each and every child who will take the oath.

" I  (your name) do solemnly swear that if I see a gun or a bullet unattended by an adult I will Run and find an adult and tell them and they will buy me Ice Cream."  We then give each and every child a badge, certificate and they are all proclaimed Junior Osage Valley Vigilantes. Reminding the public and  ourselves about our heritage is not only fun, but rewarding. Our skits portray life in Missouri in the 1880's.  This time is when our laws were founded and the reconstruction from war between the states was well under way.  We try to show a whole town atmosphere with men, women and children.  We try to be as authentic as possible.  By doing this, the people of today can get a look into  the past of the hardships, the fortitude and the accomplishments of the pioneers  of long ago.
